Indigo

Three generations of women navigate their need to reach one another. When her mother is diagnosed with Alzheimer's, Beverly and her husband Rick open their home to care for her. When Beverly's daughter Emma -- a non-speaking autistic teenager with synesthesia -- unexpectedly crashes back into her life, the family must confront their past and learn whether they can become the family Emma so desperately needs.
Indigo tells the story of three generations of women, their individual struggles and perspectives on the world, and explores how art and the senses can bring connection, particularly to people who see the world a little differently. Autistic non-verbal teenager Emma is mourning the loss of her father, and shows us her inner world where she experiences the world as a range of colours.
The musical sensitively explores themes of living with Alzheimer’s, autism, and synesthesia, celebrating the bonds that unite a family.

"Indigo is a strong contender as my show of the year already!"
"It's uncommon in musical theatre to see a show that doesn't remind you at least a little of something you've seen before. Indigo however is one of those rare and precious exceptions."
"A huge amount of heart... fantastic to see a new musical tackling more diverse subjects and representing parts of our society which are often overlooked."
"The show's tagline 'Family is a spectrum of colour and connection' is exactly what this show highlights and what is produced is something quite beautiful."
"Neurodivergent representation in musical theatre is next to non-existent, and for this show to be authentically cast with an autistic actor is something that should be applauded."
