Sometimes I do forget what’s simple in my life. Sometimes I do forget to breathe. I never break long enough to take stock of who I’ll be when I’m through. You say “breathe” And I do. Sometimes you claim I miss the good that’s in my life. Sometimes I do almost agree. Somehow I take it in, then push it all away. You say I should stay, You say, you say I’m the very best part of your day. But there’s dawn and dusk and midnight. Trust me, lots of times caught in between. Lazy mornings, afternoons that burn until the world turns green. I would not compete with sky Then you somehow made me try. And now I have been taking you I’ve been pressing you into my page Thinking I can’t be breaking through walls I shouldn’t still have at my age. So I’m shaken and affected to hear unexpectedly That for no apparent reason you love me. I am not faultless. I am no shining, blinding sun. I am no cosmic display.
