Up and Down

I’ll never have a baby. I’ll never even see the sun. Stuck here in this hollow shaft, I can’t feel or dance or run. All I do is go Up and down. Up and down. People come in. My buttons are pressed. I take them to the floor they request. Up and down. Up and down. I’ll never hear the rain fall. I'll never smell a daffodil.  People choose where people go. I can’t change my role but still.
